3 Ways To Make Your Storage Unit More Organized

Organizing all your belongings in storage unit isn't necessarily all that easy, especially if you aren't an organized person to begin with. But shoving everything into the unit willy-nilly isn't going to help you when you go to find something. However, there are things that you can do that will help you create an organized storage unit.

Draw a Plan

One thing you can do is draw up a plan of the storage unit. It doesn't have to be all that detailed or even to scale. Just draw a square or rectangle and then write down roughly where things are. You may want to designate one wall as a bedroom area, one as a kitchen section, and so forth. That way when you are putting things in the unit at a later time, you can just put them down without having to put too much thought into it.

Leave Paths

While you may have the urge to pack the storage unit as full as possible, you really don't want to do that. You want to be able to get in and out of the unit easily without having to completely empty out the unit. So, make sure that you leave yourself little walkways. They don't have to be huge walkways, but you definitely need some space to get through.

Use Same Size Boxes

You may want to use whatever boxes you can find, but you really want to use boxes that are all the same size. That's because they are easier to stack. If all the boxes are the same size, then it will be easier to put in pathways and making sure that you are organized. It will also make you safer while you are working in the storage unit. Having uniformly sized and shaped boxes means that when you create a tower, there shouldn't be any wobble to it. You still won't want to stack the stacks too high because you might hurt yourself getting the boxes off and on the stacks. You should also make sure that the heavy stuff is on the bottom, to give your stacks more stability.

If you are going to have to store stuff in a storage unit, you will want to make sure that it's organized. If you just toss stuff in without having some kind of organizational plan in place, you are going to end up with a huge mess that will take forever to sort out.
